FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Based on the name and concept of our company “ALIVE”, our style is 80% candid, mixed with a bit of traditional. Our studio’s Director and Main Photographer, Nestor, has 10 years experience on wedding and portrait photography, 6 of them in Riviera Maya. Yes! We strongly recommend to have a pre-wedding meeting so you can talk to the photographer about all your questions as well as your expectations and/or “special requirements”. The meeting will be scheduled a couple of days prior the event (depending on availability of both parties); In the case that we can’t meet in person, we can schedule a Skype meeting any time.

When you close a contract with us, the understanding is that Alive Photo Studio will provide services as primary photographers/videographers. Secondary photographers provided by the event’s officials and/or guests taking photos are allowed as long as they do not interfere with our team’s duties, but we strongly suggest to ask your guests to avoid cell phone use, at least during the ceremony so that they can fully share your moment with you on your special day!

That’s a very frequently asked and tricky question, as some couples think that if the photographer hasn’t been previously at the venue he won’t do a good job, and that’s totally false. A GOOD photographer has the ability to get the most of any location, known or unknown, because it gives him the chance to be creative by discovering new spots and places. The Riviera Maya has hundreds of resorts and we know many of them, but please feel free to ask about your specific venue; we’ll let you know if we’ve been there before and we could even send you a link with our best photoshoots at that location.

We know one of the main reasons of planning a destination wedding, are the beautiful sunset pictures that we love as much as you do! So in order to get the “perfect lighting” for your wedding memories, the best time to plan your wedding ceremony will be 1 to 1.5 hours prior to sunset, and in Riviera Maya it may vary during the year. Based on our experience, almost all weddings usually flow as follows:

– Wedding ceremony (20-30 minutes)

– Group & family session followed by the couple’s portrait ( That way we can take the most of what we,the photographers, call the “Golden hour” (30 minutes before and 30 minutes after sunset).

– Based on the weather & sunset times during the year, our suggestion to schedule your ceremony time will be:

Winter: 3:30 – 4:00 pm / Spring & Fall: 4:00 to 5:00 pm / Summer: 5:00 to 6:00 pm.

We don’t recommend having a wedding between 11:00 am and 4:00 pm, specially during the Summer “high wedding season” (May-July) as it might be extremely hot and the sunlight is too bright, so you and your guests would barely be able to keep your eyes open.

On weddings longer than 4 hours, a meal for the the full team will be really appreciated.

It’s always nice to have two perspectives on major moments; that’s why all of our packages (4 hours & up) always include a second photographer/assistant. In case you’re having a “short coverage” or “pay per hour” plan (1 to 3 hours), you can get a second shooter for an extra fee and upon request (with notice of at least 1 month in advance, preferable when you sign the contract).

WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY IS THE GREATEST GIFT TO YOURSELF, BUT THERE'S ONLY ONE CHANCE TO GET IT RIGHT! HIRE THE BEST!
